LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – LaFollette Utility Board members made two appointments to charitable boards that operate under the utility.

Laura Broyles was appointed to the Caring Neighbors Board upon the recommendation of LaFollette Utility Board General Manager Kenny Baird.

Broyles will be filling the board spot previously held by Jerry Dagley who recently passed away.

This Caring Neighbors Board meets monthly and handles the distribution of donations made by customers that go to help families needing help paying their utility bills.

“Laura Broyles is interested in serving on that board; she was a school teacher for years and is retired now, ” Baird said.

The Operation Roundup Board also had an appointment on Baird’s recommendation on Monday evening.

Chamber of Commerce Director Missy Tackett was appointed to this board. She replaces Rhonda Longmire, who has retired off that board.

Operation Round Up is a charitable program where customers have the option to round up to the nearest dollar on their bill payments.

Those funds are then put into a fund that does charitable type things in the county, usually for education.

According to Baird, Operation Roundup brings in $300 to $400 a month. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/29/2023-6AM)
