JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- A man who allegedly held a couple at gunpoint has been indicted on multiple felonies.

Michael Paul Lee, 34, was indicted by a grand jury earlier this month for crimes he allegedly committed in March 2022.

HERE is the original story.

Lee was at a Caryville gas station when Caryville Police Detective John Minor noticed he was “nervous,” the report said.

He then began dropping items on the ground, leaned into the SUV and allegedly “appeared to put something under the passenger’s seat.”

When Lee was confronted by Minor about the trash he had dropped, Lee picked up a “a chip bag and other items of trash and put the items in the trash,” the report said.

Minor noticed there was a female with Lee and she appeared to have been crying. Lee attempted to explain the two were arguing about “family stuff”, but the female told the officer Lee had a gun, the report said.

Detective Minor retrieved the chip bag that had been discarded by Lee and allegedly found 12 grams of Heroin in it, the report said. A survey of the SUV allegedly revealed several syringes and a 9mm handgun with five rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber, according to the arrest report.

The safety on the gun was off, the report said.

A further search of the SUV revealed $555 in cash.

Once Lee was secured in the back of a patrol car, the female told Minor that she and the male with her had been kidnapped by Lee.

He allegedly got in their car, pointed a gun at them instructing them to drive to Caryville, the report said.

As they drove, Lee allegedly made threats to kill them. At one point, Lee held a gun to the female’s head, the report said.

A Campbell County Grand Jury indicted Lee on two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping; employing a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony; tampering with evidence; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; possession of a schedule I controlled substance with intent to sell; possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to sell; two counts aggravated assault.
