Barbourville, Ky. – Cleo Smith Richardson, 85, of La Follette, Tennessee passed away August 13, 2023.  Cleo was the daughter of Hodge Smith and Rosie Stanifer Smith born to them May 20, 1938, in Speedwell, Tennessee.

Cleo was loving and kind.  She was a Christian of Baptist faith.  Cleo retired from General Motors, Kokomo, Indiana, after working many years on one of the company’s assembly lines.   Cleo’s real talent though was that of homemaker.  Cleo had many talents – quilting, cooking, flower and vegetable gardening, and canning.  She enjoyed cooking and baking from scratch, especially special birthday cakes and pies for her family as well as making delicious homemade jams and jellies to enjoy throughout the year.  Cleo was adventuress too, traveling to all 50 states, expect Alaska and Hawaii, during her lifetime.  She also vacationed often at Falls Creek Falls, Tennessee, as fishing was a favorite pastime of Cleo’s.  Cleo will be remembered fondly by all those who were fortunate to have known and loved her.

Left behind to mourn Cleo’s passing are daughters Diane Richardson Armstrong (Gary) of Kokomo, Indiana, and Patti Marlowe of Lafollette, Tennessee, sisters Violet Dyke and Ruth Salyers, and brother Earlie Smith all of Speedwell, Tennessee.  Six grandchildren, Rodney Killebrew II and Ashley Killebrew of Kokomo, Indiana, Zachary Marlowe and Keith Lee Marlowe of Lafollette, Tennessee, Jason Richardson and Trevor Richardson of Texas as well as eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive Cleo and will miss her dearly.  Cleo was proceeded in death by her parents, Hodge and Rosie Smith, son Tony Allen Richardson and his wife Maria Baron of San Antonio, Texas, granddaughter Natasha Killebrew, of Kokomo, Indiana, and brothers William H. Smith and Hurle Smith.

The family has honored Cleo’s wish to be cremated, hence no public services are planned.
