LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – For the last hour, negotiators with La Follette Police have been talking with a man who has barricaded himself inside his east La Follette home. The unidentified man is in a green house at 706 East Hemlock Street; he has been there since just before 1pm Wednesday.

Chief Steve Wallen is stationed at the top of the 700 block of East Hemlock Street.

“He’s by himself inside the home, and he is suicidal,” said LPD Lt. Matthew Forsyth. The Lieutenant said everyone from Chief Steve Wallen to the SWAT team to patrol officers, have the area sealed off. “He’s talking with us, and I’m hoping we can resolve this peacefully,” said Forsyth.

An LPD officer is positioned at the back of the home.

Campbell County EMS and La Follette Fire and first responders are staged outside the 700 block of East Hemlock Street that is sealed off by the LPD.
