Hazel (Anthony) Perciful Sweeney, age 90, of Jellico, Tennessee, passed away Monday morning, July 17, 2023, at the Tennova Healthcare – North Knoxville Medical Center in Powell, TN, surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 7, 1933, to the late Luther Anthony and Victoria (Sizemore) Anthony in Bryson City, North Carolina.  She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Jellico.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Perciful; sister, Lucille (Anthony) King, and brothers, Earl Anthony and Luther Anthony, Jr.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Perciful, Jr., and wife, Leana, of Knoxville, TN, and Rudy Perciful, and wife, Leanne, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Cheri Curtis, of Knoxville, Crystal Foster, and husband, Joe, of Knoxville, William Perciful, of White Oak, TN, Charles Perciful, III, of Knoxville, and Rudy Perciful, Jr., and wife, Holly, of Dallas, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Mount Tidwell, and wife, Emily, Rori Swaggerty, and Maureen Eloise Perciful; sister, Norma (Anthony) Young, and husband, Jack, of Jellico; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends, neighbors, and other relatives to mourn her passing.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, beginning at 12:00 noon at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service will immediately follow on Wednesday afternoon, July 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Douglas officiating.

Interment will follow in the Douglas Cemetery located in Jellico.

Cox & Son Funeral Home of Jellico is in charge of all arrangements.
