LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A 32-year- old La Follette woman awakened late Friday morning to find an unwelcome guest inside her apartment. It was a man who was on the no trespass list of the Loop Road apartment complex where the woman resides. When police arrived, it was confirmed that 46-year- old Jamey McCarty had been barred from that property.

The victim told La Follette Police Officer Anthony Mahar McCarty was in her apartment without permission, and that he’d come in through the back door. After telling McCarty to leave, and that he wasn’t allowed to be there, he allegedly told the woman that he was going to do whatever he wanted to do.

As she attempted to get McCarty to leave, he became violent by grabbing her around the neck choking her, and then shoving her a couple of times, according to the LPD report. The victim then ran to the apartment manager’s office to call police after McCarty had allegedly taken her phone from her.

Mahar and Sgt. Michael Satkowski arrived to find McCarty allegedly still inside the apartment and after calling him to come out three or four times, he came out of the upstairs bedroom and walked down the stairs, based on the police report.

Mahar asked McCarty what he was doing at the apartment, and McCarty allegedly told the officer “I guess I’m trespassing.” McCarty was then arrested.

McCarty, 46, 687 Coolidge Road, La Follette, was charged with aggravated assault, burglary (breaking and entering) and trespassing. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/13/2023-6AM)
