JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Members of the Campbell County Regional Planning Commission met Monday evening,  approving several minor lot combinations and a resolution in support of a “Greenway” grant.

First up on the agenda was a minor lot combination for Danny Hammac on Coolidge Road.

According to County Planner Jordan Rockwell, he recommended approval contingent that a note was made on the plat the county would not maintain the easement, and it would be the responsibility of the property owner.

Hammac said he had maintained the easement thus far and it would be joint maintenance with whoever purchased the venue in the future.

It was approved contingent on the easement maintenance note being added.

Next up discussed and approved was a minor lot subdivision for Brian Tackett at Mountain View Estates. It is a three lot subdivision.

According to Rockwell, the property owners want to close a section of the right of way and move a property line. Some of the larger lots are also being made into partials.

If the road is abandoned, maintenance reverts to the property owner.

As far as closing a portion of the right of way, Rockwell advised County Road Supervisor Ron Dilbeck would have to weigh in on it, and it would have to go before the commission for approval as well.

“He will have to show on the map where he wants it closed; we will have to vote on it and then the commission will too,” Rockwell said.

Planning Commission members (left to right) are Marie Ayers, Dewayne Baird, Scott Fields and Greg Leach.

Planning commission members discussed a major lot subdivision for Tara Maye at Pine Mountain Loop and Stinking Creek to divide six acres into six lots.

“We want to subdivide it. We have four boys and want to be able to pass it along to family,” Maye said.

They also have rental cabins on the property, which is being subdivided.

The property has a joint permanent easement, with about eight properties accessing the easement. Rockwell and planning commission members had concerns regarding the road maintenance agreement for the easement and voted to table voting on it until easement maintenance agreements were provided.

A resolution in support of a Tennessee Department of Multi-modal Access Grant for the Cove Lake to Jacksboro Middle School Greenway walking and biking path was approved.

“We’re going to do an application for the first phase of the Greenway, because $1.2 million will not get us the whole way. It will have to be done in phases. It would be a nice multi-use path that would become very popular,” Rockwell said.

If the county is awarded the whole $1.2 million grant, the cost to the county would be around $62,000.

According to Rockwell, TDOT has grants every year for Greenway grants.

“If we do it in two or three phases, it can go all the way to the park,” Rockwell said.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/06/2023-6AM)
