MURFREESBORO, TN.(SPECIAL TO WLAF)- The 2023 Non-Traditional and Alternative Education Summit took place April 27 and 28 at Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro. Campbell County Schools employees Harold Sanders and David Seals attended with Seals being invited to speak.

His presentation was “Allowing Kids to Just be Kids”.  Seals described how the East LaFollette Learning Academy functions as an alternative school within the Campbell County school system. 

At the East LaFollette Learning Academy, it is an educational space with hard guidelines that have positive reinforcers as well as consequences. The staff, works to teach students to make better decisions; encourages correct choices with clear results by being consistent and present and build relationships with them.

David Seals was an invited speaker at the event.

Many people from across the state attended the session and were moved by the students’ quotes about their feelings of success about their experience at ELLA that were within the presentation. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 5/10/23 6AM)
