Jimmy Leonard “Big Jim” Evans, age 81, of Jellico, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday morning, May 9, 2023, at Jellico Regional Hospital.

He was born on May 13, 1941, to the late Ted Evans and Georgie (Hatfield) Evans in the Tackett Creek Community of Campbell County, Tennessee.

He was a member of Anthras Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Scott Evans, and a daughter, Shelia (Evans) Osborne; sister, Juanita Lambdin, and husband, Jim; brother, Boyd Evans; brother-in-law, Lloyd Collingsworth; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sherman Hatfield and Lomey Hatfield.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy (Hatfield) Evans; two granddaughters, Kayla Huddleston, and husband, Brad, of Jellico, and Kristin Osborne, of White Oak, TN; and great-grandchildren, Carson Osborn, Laila Osborn, Sophia Huddleston, Creed Irwin, Navin Huddleston, and Colten Huddleston, all of Jellico.

“Big Jim” is also survived by his sister, Barbara Collingsworth, of LaFollette, TN; brother, Ray Evans, and wife, Margie, of Roses Creek, TN;son-in-law, Paul Osborne, of White Oak, TN; sister-in-law, Wilma Evans, of Norwood, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of friends, neighbors, and other relatives to mourn his passing.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, May 12, 2023, beginning at 12:00 pm at the Crouches Creek Baptist Church.

The funeral will immediately follow on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.at the Crouches Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Trey Brock officiating.

Interment will follow on Friday afternoon in the Evans Family Cemetery located on Highway 90 in the Tackett Creek Community of Campbell County.

Pallbearers will be Brad Huddleston, Tony Osborne, Billy Henderson, Doodle Henderson, Steven Henderson, and Logan Henderson.

Cox & Son Funeral Home of Jellico is in charge of all arrangements.
