Former Marine Operation Enduring Freedom veterans Troy Bowhall of Clinton (left) and Cory Minton (right) of La Follette were among those in the last year’s season opening tournament named for Bobby Heatherly. Minton has played in all four of the Bobby Heatherly Classics, and Bowhall played in his first in 2022.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – This year is the fifth year for the annual Bobby Heatherly Classic. As the tourney officially kicks off the season, it is also marks the 100th year for the La Follette Golf & Country Club.

“This is a very special year for the club, and Bobby’s Classic has grown each year,” said Josh Vann, general manager of the La Follette Golf & Country Club.

The team of Josh Rogers and Bobby Davis won the two-person scramble last year as the pair shot a two day total of 124.

The Classic is Sat., April 29, and Sun., April 30, with the first tee time at 8am Saturday. The classic is named in honor of Heatherly, the man who invested 36 years on the hill that’s home to the nine-hole course. “All the years he worked here and all the hours and self-sacrifice he made, this is the least we can do,” said Vann.

The Classic is open to anyone. Call 423.494.4817 or 423.562.9130 to get your team signed up. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/27/2023-6AM)
