LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – It was just before 10am on Tuesday, April 18, when LaFollette Police Officer Jesse Ferguson responded to a call about a suspicious person in the area around West Fir Street and South Tennessee Ave.. The caller alleged people were breaking into a vacant house and walking out with items.

Ferguson was given a clothing description and found the individual across the street from West Fir on the walking trail. Ferguson asked the individual, identified as Dillon Shane Barnes, if he was in the vacant house, according to a report from the LaFollette Police Department. Barnes allegedly admitted he was in the house.

The officer assisting Ferguson allegedly saw Barnes conceal an item in his sleeve. Upon further investigation, the officers located a clear smoking pipe made out of glass. Barnes told Officer Ferguson he took a video of himself inside the house. The officers reviewed the footage and saw that Barnes was in the vacant house with no permission and said on the video “I want to take something, but I won’t” and then said “I wanted the two chairs outside, but they are already gone”.

Barnes, 26, homeless is charged with burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 4/27/2023- 6AM)
