LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) -The contractor for the State Route 63 widening will be constructing the side road tie ins to SR-63 starting Thurs., April 27.

“In order to do so, the contractor will need to temporarily close the side roads to complete this work. Closures are necessary to allow the contractor to grade and pave each of the side roads to the south of SR-63,” said Matthew Edens, Operations District Supervisor Operations Division, District 19, with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT.)

At this point the contractor intends to only close one side road at a time and will make continuous progress to complete this work after the road has been closed. Traffic will be detoured to other side streets while the road is temporarily closed for construction. It is anticipated each of these closures will last approximately two weeks but will be dependent upon weather and subsurface conditions, according to Edens.
