LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Low afternoon relative humidity and gusty winds are the cause for a Red Flag Warning for Campbell County and most areas through this evening. Please use caution as a simple spark can cause a major wildfire.

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from noon today to 8 PM this evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* WIND…South to southwest winds 10 to 15 mph, with occasional gusts of 20 to 25 mph.

* HUMIDITY…Minimum relative humidity values in the upper teens to low 20s.

* IMPACTS…any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now….or are expected to occur shortly.
