Firefighters will tell you that fire moves faster coming up a bank, and that was the case Tuesday afternoon. The fire burned between South High Knob Road and Big Creek.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – It’s been a busy day for La Follette Fire Fighters of the “A” Shift. Units remain on the scene of a cabin fire that developed into a brush fire.

Shovels were in need to help contain the fire.

“It (the fire) was well underway before anyone noticed it,” said LFD Assistant Fire Chief Keith Fraley. The call came in around 1pm Tuesday. The cabin sat on the bank of Big Creek not far from Goat Rock Bridge at the Claiborne Road-South High Knob Road intersection.

LFD Captain Johnny Seal, on the bank, instructed Fugate where he needed to direct the flow of water.

“When our first engine pulled up, there was a man walking away from the area,” said LFD Chief Jimmy Pack. Firefighters battled what was left of the cabin fire along with the fire in the wooded area around the cabin.

Fraley, white shirt, looks on as remains of the cabin smolder.

There were no injuries. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/07/2023-1:30PM)
