JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – On Thursday night the Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen met and hired a new building inspector. The current building inspector Matthew Owens resigned; the board approved hiring Lisa Crumpley to replace Owens.

The board agreed to surplus equipment at the police department so it can be disposed. It also approved for the police department was the purchase of a gun safe and seven LED wand lights. The board approved for the police department to apply for a Violent Crimes Grant for $68,000.

A remodel is coming for the fire department, and the board approved the remodel to allow for sleeping accommodations in the fire department. The work will be done in house. Also approved was the advertisement of bids for equipment for the fire department.

In final business of the evening, the board approved the purchase of four backhoe tires that will cost $1,947. The contract with TDOT was approved for work on the traffic lights at the Eagle Market intersection on the four lane. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/09/2023-6AM)
