Manhunt underway near I-75, helicopter on its way to assist

PIONEER, TN (WLAF) – An event that began just after 4:30am Friday continues at this hour. Reports coming in to WLAF are that there was a road rage incident on I-75 and law enforcement caught up with the suspected instigator near Mile Marker 143.

After the traffic stop, the suspect, an Hispanic male, took off running and was pursued on foot by officers in the predawn hours, sub-freezing temperatures and rough terrain. At 7am, investigators stopped their foot pursuit as they await a helicopter that is on its way.

Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputies and troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol are working the case. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/03/2023-7:15AM)
