JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- Campbell County and the Campbell County Board of Education are facing a legal challenge after not producing documents in a timely manner.

Last week, Jimmy Trammell filed suit in Campbell County Chancery Court asking the chancellor require those two entities provide him with documents pertaining to the board of education not being in compliance with Tennessee’s requirement that all school system employees be offered the same health insurance. On Dec. 1, 2022, Trammell submitted a public records request to the BOE and to Campbell County Mayor Jack Lynch asking for the production of records relating to the county and board’s actions around the health insurance issue, according to the filing. The lengthy list of requested documents included documents dating back to 2010.

Sixteen days after the initial request, Trammell’s attorney was asked to direct his request to Campbell County Board of Education Attorney Dail Cantrell. The recent court filing indicates the records have not been turned over.

Within the filing, it is noted that Trammell was employed by the BOE “for several years until his termination” in April 2020.
