The sweet tradition continues at Southern Sweets & Eats.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Southern Sweets & Eats is WLAF’s business of the week. The family owned business is growing its menu by adding different types of loaded baked potatoes! Last week the business began serving specialty spuds such as the Bacon, Chicken and Ranch, a Broccoli Cheddar and Bacon spud, and a traditional Loaded baked potato. Loaded sweet potatoes are also on the menu! Potato options will change as different menu items are added. 

It’s a tater like no other.

For those with a sweet tooth, Southern Sweets & Eats still has all if its traditional favorites such as funnel cakes with a variety of toppings, shave ice, specialty shakes, seasonal ice-cream and more.

The business has also expanded its hours and is now open six days a week! They will also be starting a seasonal menu soon which will feature seasonal produce. 

“A lot of items are handmade; we make our own shave ice syrups and more daily,” according to business co-owner Renee Wormsley.

Her husband Travis and their two children Paxton and Destiny also own and operate the business. 

Southern Sweets & Eats opened about two years ago, according to Renee Wormsley, who said it was a result of Covid affecting her and her family’s work situation as “non necessity workers.”

They came together as a family to figure out what to do during that hard time and came up with the idea of a food truck. 

“We started this in a little food truck that we had on our farm and renovated. How we got that truck came as a blessing. We started with our shave ice and have slowly grown and been able to expand because of our customers, ” Wormsley said.

Southern Sweets & Eats has the perfect treat for you at break time through your work day.

She and the rest of the family said they wanted to say thank you to all the customers who have supported them over the last two years so their business could thrive. 

“We also want to say a very special thank you to our mother Rita Fannon, because without her help, we wouldn’t have a business,” Wormsley said.

Southern Sweets & Eats is located at 2558 Jacksboro Pike, Jacksboro, across from the Wier Woods turn-in. It has a drive through and also takes call and text in orders. Soon the business will be adding a Door Dash option as well. Keep an eye out for new signage and a menu with pricing which will be erected out in front of the business. Soon the business will have upcoming Valentine’s Day themed specials.  Gift cards are also available! Southern Sweets & Eats’ food truck is available for bookings for private or public events. 

Sweet potatoes are also on the Southern Sweets & Eats menu.
