Barbara J. Smith, age 87, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Jellico,Tennessee, and Brooksville, Florida, passed away on Tuesday evening, December 27, 2022.
She retired as an Environmental Specialist for the State of Tennessee.  Shewas a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Knoxville.


She was preceded in death by husband, Tommy W. Smith, and husband, HaroldJ. Gibson; parents, Gus and Julia (Fine) Washburn; and three sisters,Jeanette Washburn, Lucille Light, and Hattie Manning.
She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Beulah S. Baddour,son-in-law, Dr. George Baddour, and grandson, Thomas Hunter Baddour.


Barbara was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing butbeautiful memories.  The simplest pleasures in life brought her great joy.  Shewas particularly proud of her grandson, Hunter, and very much enjoyed hisstories and accomplishments.

She loved spending time with friends, her neighbors, and her beloved cat,Luke.  She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities.Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met.
The family would like to thank her neighbors and close friends for their friendship, help, and support.  These friends include Karen Tindell, MarthaCannon, Debbie Hart, Linda Palmer, Marilyn Davis, Joy Whittemore, Amy Temple, Edith Moseley, Elaine Anderson, and Francis Spear.
A private service will be held for family members.


In lieu of flowers, the family would ask consideration of donations to St. John’s Cathedral, 413 Cumberland Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37902 in support of “Sundays at Lakeshore” (aka, dog church).
