JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- Kenneth Ray Powers has been sentenced in his solicitation and exploitation case. He was given five years in prison after pleading guilty to 10 charges.

On Monday, Powers pleaded guilty to one count of solicitation to commit aggravated statutory rape and nine counts of sexual exploitation of a minor by electronic means. He was sentenced to five years in prison to be served at 30 percent with jail credit given for around nine months, according to court records. Powers will also have to register as a sex offender.

An investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) resulted in Powers’ indictment in 2019. During the course of the investigation, agents determined that between March 2019 and April 2019, Powers sent explicit messages to an underage female and attempted to solicit the victim to engage in sexual activity.

A Campbell County Grand Jury later returned indictments charging Powers with one count of solicitation to commit aggravated statutory rape and nine counts of sexual exploitation of a minor by electronic means. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/22/2022 –6AM)
