LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell Cougars play for a tournament championship while the Lady Cougars play for a consolation championship. The Lady Cougars take on the Boyd Buchanan Bucs from Chattanooga at 1pm in the Heritage Christmas Tournament at Heritage Middle School. The Cougars game with the Pickett County Bobcats from Byrdstown in the South Fork Physical Therapy Christmas Tournament at Oneida High IS CANCELED.

On Wednesday night at Oneida, the Cougars held off the Patriots of Heritage Christian Academy of Birmingham 62-56 to advance to tonight’s championship contest. John Long was tops for the game with 22 points followed by 10 points from Senior Devon Jones. With those 10 points, Jones crossed over the 1,000 point mark in his career at Campbell. Gavin Cox had nine while Elijah McKinney tallied eight with David Adkins adding seven. Adama Sanogo scored four and Will Lester chipped in two.
Following Wednesday’s wins, the Cougars are 7 & 6, and the Lady Cougars are 5 & 7.
The Lady Cougars outscored Covington 8-4 in the first quarter and 8 to 5 in the second on Wednesday morning. It took the Lady Chargers nearly five minutes to score their first points, and they trailed Campbell at the half 16 to 9. The Lady Cougars built a 19-point lead twice in the second half much in part to a 14 to 4 third quarter. Covington had more points, 14, than Campbell, 11, in the fourth.
Carley Kitts set the pace with 11 points as six points each came from Emma Brandenburg, Bella Lester and Lexi Morris. Reagan Davis scored a career high five while Lacey Pemberton added three with two points a piece coming from Saylor Hutchison and Destiny Rutherford.
