CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Three aldermen were sworn at last night’s Town of Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting. Vickie Heatherly and Beth Lawson were both re-elected while Josh Monday was elected to fill the seat vacated by Eric Smith who chose not to run for re-election.

The police department had three items on the agenda beginning with bids for police equipment for the new Durango and the F150. One bid was received and approved from On Duty Depot for $14,653. The department needs to upgrade two of the computers in the police department. Chief Freddie Stagnolia reported to the board the computers will cost $969 each from Hammrtech. The purchase was approved. Applying for the Violent Crime Grant was approved. If awarded the department would receive $71,867.

The board discussed the annual Christmas Light Contest and the Santa Tour in December. The Christmas Light Contest will award first place with a prize of $300, second place will receive $200 and third place will receive $100. The deadline for entry is Dec. 19 at noon. To enter the contest, participants should call city hall. Judging will be held on Dec. 23. The Santa Tour will be held on Dec. 11 at 2 pm beginning at Cove Lake State Park.

Resolution No. 2022-09 for the capital outlay note on a fire truck was approved pending final approval from the state. Ordinance NO. 2022-09 amending the annual operating budget for fiscal year July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023, was approved.

Alderman Patrick Pebley reported to the board the playground equipment for the Caryville Cares Playground has been ordered. He continued that the group is still fundraising for installation cost.

Mayor Bobby Stooksbury shared with the board that there is an upcoming ribbon cutting ceremony at Gold Creek Foods on Tue., Dec. 6 at 4 pm. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/15/2022-6AM)
