Linda Lou “Nanny” Barnes, age 72 of Jacksboro, departed this life and entered into her heavenly home on Friday, November 4th, 2022. She was born January 15, 1950 in Pioneer to the late Luther and Ethel (Byrge) Lay. Linda was a member of Red Ash Baptist Church and loved shopping, going to yard sales, traveling, but most of all she loved babysitting her great grandbabies that she loved very much.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Barnes; brother, Lewis Lay.

Linda is survived by her loving son, Kenny Barnes and Kim of Jacksboro; granddaughters, Jessica Freeman and Jason of Speedwell, Brittany Broughton and Nathan of Corbin, Kentucky; great grandchildren, Lauren, Gage, Bentley, Maddox, Cannon, Tylee, and Kaelin;  sister, Gloria (Belle) Cooper and Johnny of Maynardville; brothers, Ronnie Lay and Patricia of Jacksboro, Donald Lay and Peggy of Jacksboro, Dewayne Lay and Nora of Caryville; special niece, Beth Lewis of Maynardville; several other nieces, nephews, and host of more relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tennova Hospice and her nurse Josh for their loving care and kindness shown.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 7, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with her funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Sampson Ridenour officiating. Family and friends will meet on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at the funeral home at 10:15 AM to go in funeral procession to Queener Cemetery for a 11:00 AM interment.
