CARYVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Last Saturday, members of the Caryville Cares Playground team were surprised with a check for more than $7,000 from the recent Down Set Dash 5K.

The 5K run and walk was a project led by Kristy and Brian Osborn, who started planning the event in June.  The race had two primary focuses. They were to raise awareness about Down Syndrome and fundraise for a local charity.

Dozens of businesses and community leaders stepped up to sponsor the event.

“I can’t explain how thrilled we were to learn that we were their charity of choice” said Brandon Johnson, Chairman for the Caryville Cares Playground.  “The playground is going to give kids of all ability levels – including children with Down Syndrome – the opportunity to finally play in a safe environment.  We can’t thank the Osborn family and everyone else enough for their massive support.”

Kristy Osborn said, “my husband Brian and I would like to thank our community for the love and support of the Down Set Dash 5K for Down Syndrome.  With you help, the Caryville Cares Playground received a donation of $7,050.00.  The event was a huge success, and we are already looking forward to next year!” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/03/2022-6AM)
