LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – February 14, 1974, is the day late retired La Follette Fire Chief Wayne Gregg began his 36 year career with the City of La Follette. Gregg passed away back in the winter, and this week, he was honored by the State of Tennessee with a house joint resolution. State Representative Dennis Powers requested the resolution.

“It is an honor for the City of La Follette to have received a copy of this Resolution honoring the memory of Fire Chief Wayne Gregg that was passed by the state,” said City of La Follette Administrator Stan Foust.

Gregg was promoted to captain from firefighter on October 18, 1980. From there, he was promoted to assistant fire chief in April 1985 and soon became chief later than year in August serving until January 3, 2001.

Wayne Gregg served a distinguished career with the La Follette Fire Department.
