LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Teachers make a difference in their students lives each and every day. For many students, having a teacher who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hard working educators with a weekly feature.

This week’s featured teacher is Kayla Owens. She is from Claiborne County and teaches 4th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies at Valley View Elementary.

Owens is in her second-year of teaching.

According to Owen’s she had many amazing educators that inspired her career choice during her time in school.

“Along with my love of children and helping them, I had many amazing teachers throughout my years in school who inspired me to become a teacher,” Owens said.

Her favorite part of the job is seeing students excited to come to school and “the excitement they have when they learn something new!”

According to Owens,  everyone has hard days, but it’s hugs from her students that get her through.

“What gets me through hard days is a student hugging me, whether they are one of my students or not, and hearing them say they love me and love being in my class.”

Every Thursday, WLAF’s Charlotte Underwood features the WLAF – Eagle Tire Pros teacher of the week. That educator also receives a free oil change from Eagle Tire Pros.
