Margie Harness, age 91 of Redondo Beach CA, formally of Laurel Grove Community, retired on Monday September 12, 2022. She was born in Anderson County to the late James Albert and Rosa Lee Brown Harness.

She graduated from Lake City High School in 1950. After graduation she served her country proudly and honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Upon her discharge she went to Detroit MI to work but decided she wanted to see California. When she arrived she had one dollar to her name and lived in her car for 3 weeks until she could earn enough for an apartment. She went to work for an upholsterer who took her under his wing. After he taught her the trade she opened her own business, AAA Upholstery, which she still owns. Her shop is in Torrance and is the 2nd oldest business in town.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Clay Harness, Clayton Harness and Claiborne Harness by nephew Todd Harness, and brother-in-law Dan Davis.

She is survived by brothers, Clifford (Norma) Harness of Laurel Grove, Cliff (Kay) Harness of Rocky Top, sister, Betty Davis of Knoxville and sister-in-law June Harness of Berea OH.

Nieces and nephews Brigitte (Jay), Rachael (Gordon), Vance (Sue), Martha (Rob), Lea Anne, and Daniel (Jerusa).

Great nieces and nephews, Vadia, David, Becky, Blake, Chad, Annie, Ian, and Owen.

Great-great nieces Anna and Kadee.

Receiving of friends will be Saturday September 17th from 11 am till 12 noon at Laurel Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member. A graveside service conducted by Brother Audrey Goins will follow with full military honors at the church cemetery.
