Charlie Hutson’s aerial shot from Eagle I shows the pavement has been cut, and now the material in the cut space must be removed.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The digging began on Wednesday morning with the pavement being cut to start the dig where Towe String Road meets the four lane (Hwy 25W or State Route 9) at Citizen’s Bank.

This the header for the line under the four lane highway.

By the evening, several feet of the collapsed drain had been uncovered and removed. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/15/2022-6AM)

  1. Concrete drainage pipe would be a longer lasting solution to that collapse. Metal pipe of that type removed doesn’t last as long as concrete pipe. It will happen again. I remember when that metal pipe was placed there, it just can’t handle the weight of all that traffic. The more rain we get will weaken it.
