JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- Cameron Jones remains jailed following his assault on a county employee. However, he does have a new attorney.

Jones, a career offender, had been represented by the public defender’s office in his prior cases, which include aggravated assault, five counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated stalking.

Yesterday, in criminal court the public defender’s office was allowed to withdraw from the case due to a conflict. Brian Sableman was appointed to represent Jones.

Jones netted his 45th arrest when he allegedly attempted to kill a county employee last month. That case is making its way through general sessions court at this time.

At the time of his alleged assault on the employee, Jones was out on a $120,000 bond from criminal court. In March, he was indicted on aggravated assault, five counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated stalking, possession of a schedule VI controlled substance and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

During a prior hearing, that bond was revoked meaning he remains housed at the Knox County Jail.

Jones, 40, who has more arrests than he does years alive, has served the appropriate sentences for all of his prior crimes. However, he has continued to commit crimes putting himself back into the court system. Jones has a lengthy criminal record dating back to his first arrest in 1999 for evading arrest. Among his other charges are possession of schedule VI controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and filing a false report.

Earlier this year, he was jailed for aggravated stalking. His most recent arrest was in July for misusing the county’s 911 service. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 09/12/2022- 6AM)
