Food City has committed to making a $100,000 contribution.

“It’s a tremendous honor for our region to have been selected a second time to serve as the host site for this premier event.  We would like to invite you to join us in preserving the legacy of America’s Greatest Heroes by making a contribution to benefit the Medal of Honor Convention,” says Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.

This year’s Medal of Honor Celebration takes place in Knoxville, TN. The city was also honored to serve as the host site for the 2014 convention. The Medal of Honor is the nation’s highest military honor. Bestowed by the President of the United States, it’s awarded to members of the armed forces who “distinguish themselves through conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of their lives above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against the enemy of the United States. Since its inception, just over 3500 individuals have been awarded the medal. There are currently fewer than 70 living recipients.”

“Food City is proud to support our nation’s veterans and we invite you to join us in celebrating our country’s freedom and those how provide it,” says Smith. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/29/2022-9AM)
