LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “We’re going to remember them with a ceremony tomorrow, because I don’t want them to be forgotten,” said Donna Hawkins. Saturday marks one year since brothers Scott and Tracy Hawkins vanished without a trace.

When Donna Hawkins two grown sons did not return home, she knew something was wrong. “I knew something was wrong bad wrong when they didn’t come home Friday night,” she said. By Saturday morning, Hawkins heart started sinking, and that’s when she filed a missing persons report.

Tracy, Donna and Scott Hawkins (L-R) are big Tennessee fans.

It was around 9am Friday, August 6, 2021, when brothers Scott Hawkins, 51, and Tracy Hawkins, 44, told their mother they were going ginseng hunting on the south end of the county as they left out from her Ridenour Lane home. They parked her 2006 Chevy Trailblazer in front of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, now the Leach Family Funeral Home, near the Campbell-Anderson County line, and that’s where she found the maroon Chevy on Saturday.

Near the Campbell-Anderson County line along Highway 116 is where the SUV the Hawkins brothers were using was found.

Family, friends and possibly an investigator or two from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Officer will be on hand for a remembrance ceremony Saturday at noon at a family members home on Clear Branch Road at Rocky Top. “It would just be too emotional for me to have this ceremony near the area where they went missing,” said Donna Hawkins. Her church, High Street Baptist, held a brief ceremony of music and prayers after a Sunday service back in April.

Hawkins describes the last year as “rough.” “They don’t tell me much, but I have a family member that stays in touch with the sheriff’s detective that’s working the case. We hear from them anytime they have a tip or a lead,” said Hawkins.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Scott and Tracy Hawkins, you’re urged to call Campbell County Sheriff Robbie K. Goins at 423.562.8042. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/05/2022-4PM)
