Bonnie Louise (Perkins) Prewitt, age 71, peacefully passed away with her adoring husband by her side on Tuesday July 26, 2022 at their home in Jellico, TN.

Born to Ernest and Alma Douglas Perkins in Jellico, TN, on January 27th, Bonnie was the youngest of three children. She spent much of her youth relishing in the company of her siblings while living on their family farm in Elk Valley, TN.

Bonnie graduated from Jellico High School, where she met the love of her life. She was a loving and devoted wife for 53 years to her husband, Gene Prewitt. Together they shared two children, Sabrina and Lesley, and were deeply rooted in the local community.

Among many roles which Bonnie took on, she was passionate about her career in healthcare, working at Jellico Hospital and a local doctor’s office. She was also a member of Crouches Creek Baptist Church, where she taught arts and crafts during vacation bible school.

Bonnie was later given the name “grammers”, by her grandchildren, which may have been her favorite role. She enjoyed sitting outside with her grandchildren often sharing stories and “gossiping”.  Despite her grandchildren becoming adults, she still took every chance to hold them in her lap.

Bonnie devoted her life to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie is preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Perkins and sister, Betty Stephens.

Bonnie is survived by her husband Gene Prewitt; daughters, Sabrina Green of Lexington, KY and Lesley Renee Prewitt of Williamsburg, KY; grandchildren Lauren Green, Brennen Green, Jenna Dople, and Connor Dople; nephew Jim Sharp and family; Joyce Pennington and family; a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday July 30, 2022 from 11 AM to 12 PM in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral Service to follow at 12 PM with Rev. Sampson Ridenour officiating. Interment to follow at Jellico Cemetery.
