CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – A call about a female sitting on the side of Ridge Road talking to herself was answered by Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Walter Harmon. When Harmon arrived, at 6:30 last Saturday evening, he found a woman identified as Ashley Natay Nance sitting on the side of the road with two beers on the ground between her legs. Harmon approached the woman and asked her what was going on, and she replied she was waiting on someone to come by and kill her. When Harmon asked for her name, she replied “f*** you.”

Harmon and Caryville Police Officer Jordan Tolliver placed Nance under arrest for public intoxication. She began to pull away and started yelling and cursing at Harmon and Tolliver. Once she was placed in the patrol car, she kicked Harmon in the chest and attempted to kick him in the head. After securing Nance in the patrol car, Harmon saw a small baggie of what appeared to be Methamphetamine sitting on the side of the road with Nance’s belongings.

During transport, Nance started kicking windows, doors and the roof of the patrol car. Harmon gave her many warnings but had to use pepper spray to keep her from harming herself. Nance continued to the Campbell County Jail without incident.

Nance, 34, homeless, Caryville was charged with assault, resisting stop frisk halt, possession of schedule II controlled substance and public intoxication. According to jail records, Nance remains housed in the jail this morning on a $50,000 bond. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/15/2022-6AM)

  1. My question is if she wanted someone to kill her why was she taken to jail instead of the hospital for mental evaluation?
