LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – In a nutshell, steamy with dangerously hot conditions and the threat of strong to severe storms are with us. Daily chances of showers and thunderstorms paired with warm and muggy conditions are expected through the remainder of the week. Some of these storms may be strong to severe, and produce downpours that could cause localized flooding. Slightly cooler temperatures return for the weekend with continued chances for showers and storms. Wednesday’s high here in Campbell County heats to 95-degrees with a feels-like temperature of 106.

Additional strong to severe storms will be possible this afternoon and evening. The primary threat will be damaging wind gusts and heavy downpours of rain. Additionally, localized flash flooding is possible, especially in areas impacted by stronger storms the previous days. Flooding of small streams, ponding of low lying areas, and street flooding are all possible. If spending any time outside, take frequent breaks in the shade and stay hydrated.

For Thursday through Tuesday, a risk of severe storms exists for Thursday and Friday with increasing coverage of Thunderstorms through the week. Thunderstorm complexes will continue to move across the area for Thursday and Friday. Some of these storms will likely become severe with the main concern being damaging winds. Timing of the these storm complexes is uncertain but confidence is high that some severe weather will occur. Besides the damaging winds, these storms will also produce torrential rains with localized flash flooding possible.
