LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A speeding Chevy pick-up truck was stopped late Sunday afternoon by La Follette Police.

LPD Officer Anthony Mahar pulled over the 2003 truck on Jacksboro Pike in front of Brad’s Kar Car across from the high school after clocking it doing 51 miles per hour in a 40 MPH zone.

James Andrew Weidekamp was the man behind the wheel of the Chevy, and according to the police report, he refused consent to search his truck. As a result, K9 Officer Diesel was called to the scene. “Diesel alerted and located heroin, a good amount,” said LPD Detective-Sergeant Matthew Forsyth.

The 32-year old Weidekamp of 3405 Brookmoor Lane, Knoxville, was charged with the manufacture, delivery and sell of a schedule I controlled substance, heroin. Other charges include speeding, traffic control device and violation of the implied consent law.

The Chevy pick-up truck was seized in the 5:30pm traffic stop. Weidekamp remains housed in the Campbell County Jail this morning without bond and is due in court on August 2. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/27/2022-11AM)

  1. This is the same picture that you all had used for a previous drug bust. This pic was from a marijuana bust a couple weeks ago, not heroin.
