In a WLAF photo from Saturday afternoon around 5:30, Campbell County Animal Shelter personnel launched a privately owned boat at Lonas Young Park-the White Bridge in an attempt to rescue a dog.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “This is not the first time we’ve had to borrow a private boat to rescue an animal,” said Patricia Siwinski, Director of the Campbell County Animal Shelter.

It’s not uncommon for the Campbell County Animal Shelter to get a call about an animal, mainly dogs, and sometimes deer, stranded around the lake. “The call of a dog behind the island near Indian River Marina is what prompted us to go searching,” Siwinski added. They were not able to locate the small, brown dog.

Siwinski recalls that there was one cat/kitten rescue several years back. A kayak was used to get to an island near Twin Cove Marina.

This was the first call of the year for a dog on this side of the lake for animal shelter personnel. “We’ve had a few calls on the Union County side of the lake already, but those are handled by Union County,” said Siwiniski. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/27/2022-8AM)
