LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “It was just an incredible week last week for our family. The bar is set high, and I hope we can carry on as well as the folks before us did,” said Brent McNeeley with Walters Funeral Home.

Young Mac started the week by being voted in as the President of the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association (TFDA) and finished the week taking home the Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professional of the Year award. McNeeley called the president’s announcement last week a formality following a nomination process that took part earlier in the spring.

Brent McNeeley of Walters Funeral Home was awarded the Chamber’s Young Professional of the Year by Karen Cumorich, a member of the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, last Thursday night.

“Dad (the late Charles McNeeley) highly encouraged me, as a small independent funeral home, to get involved with the TFDA,” said Brent McNeeley. It affords us access to the tools, products and changes in the law he adds.

“I have another friend who is a second generation funeral director, and our goal is to do as good a job as our dads did,” he noted.

Young Mac was officially named President of the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association early last week at Franklin.

Brent McNeeley points out that it is an honor to represent the industry across the state and to be a small voice for the betterment of everyone.

In 2018, Charles McNeeley of Walters Funeral Home was awarded his 50 years in funeral service plaque by the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association at their annual convention and business meetings held in Murfreesboro. The award was presented by his son Brent.

“Dad would be proud. Then he would say, “you need to hurry up and get back to work,” said Brent McNeeley. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/17/2022-6AM)
