LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A La Follette Police Officer’s prior knowledge prompted a traffic stop followed by the issuance of a citation for one woman and the arrest of another woman.

LPD Officer Anthony Mahar saw Paxton Long, 24, of 506 North 13th Street, La Follette, traveling along East Central Avenue just before 4pm on Wednesday and knew Long’s driver’s license was revoked for a DUI charge (driving under the influence). The officer made a traffic stop at Foothills Drive and the La Follette Middle School and while asking Long for her vehicle information, she allegedly told him that she did not have insurance on the car. Long’s car was towed, and Mahar cited her through general for traffic violations according to the officer’s narrative.

Long’s passenger was 43 -year- old Amy Gray of 400 North 11th Street, La Follette. After talking with Gray, Mahar checked to see if she had any outstanding warrants. It turned out that Gray had an active warrant, and, as a result, Mahar placed her under arrest.

Based on records from the Campbell County Jail, Long remains housed in the county jail on a $50,000 bond. She is due in court on July 12. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/17/2022-6AM)
