Throwback Thursday features Central Avenue look from the ’60s

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – WLAF’s Charlie Hutson turns back the clock to the 1960s with this Throwback Thursday photo. Take a look down East Central Avenue looking west, and check out the business signs and the brands from that time period.  

Lafollette Furniture & Stove Company, Wender’s Furniture, Dollar General Store, Allen Riggs Pharmacy and the Quickie Restaurant are just a few that lined Central Avenue. Most businesses stopped using this type of signage once the city installed the downtown canopies. It was amazing how much it lit up the downtown at night, making it colorful and bright after dark.
