NASHVILLE, TN (WLAF) – “The governor’s office has honored my request and will issue an order to lower the flags of the state to half-mast on Saturday, the day of General Stiner’s funeral,” said State Representative Powers.

Retired Four-Star General Carl Stiner died last Thursday. When Powers heard the news, he contacted the governor the same day requesting a proclamation to fly flags at half-staff in honor of the general.

“Gen. Stiner has always been a friend, a mentor and a hero to me. I will never forget him or his love, service and dedication to our country, our state and our hometown,” said Powers.

Powers found out Monday that the flags will be flown at half-staff at the Capitol on Saturday and ordered to be flown at half-staff in Campbell County.

  1. I was honored to set courthouse colors to half staff upon announcement of GEN Stiner’s passing. Thank you to Rep Powers and Governor Lee for honoring him at the state capitol.
