Mrs. Mary Lou Campbell Reynolds, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.  She was a loving Wife, Mother, Nannie, and friend.

She was born on October 7, 1929, in the Lone Mountain community of Claiborne County, Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor’s in Home Economics in 1952.  Following graduation, she moved to LaFollette to work for the UT Agricultural Extension Service as the home demonstration agent and 4H leader from 1952 to 1958. Soon after starting the job, the LaFollette Press announced her hiring with a story and picture. Her future husband, Jack, while in the Army, saw the article and upon his return made it a priority to meet her. This was the start of a marriage that lasted over 66 years.

Mary Lou was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of LaFollette. She loved flowers and gardening and was the first president of the Town and Country Garden Club. She was a great cook and hostess for any event and had a catering business called “Parties by Mary Lou.”  Mary Lou and Jack loved to travel and one of their most memorable adventures was a motorcycle trip from Tennessee to California.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband John T. (Jack) Reynolds, parents, Charlie and Byrd Campbell; her siblings, Irene Bargo, James C. Campbell, Archie Campbell, Fred Campbell, Kate Breeding, and John Campbell.

She is survived by her children, Johnnie (Logan) Hickman, David (Dee Anne) Reynolds, and Betty Kay (Glenn) Huskisson; grandchildren Dr. Campbell Reynolds, Camille (Ryan) Buckner, Andy Hickman, and David Hickman; sister-in-law June Campbell; special nieces, Jean Dent and Martha Hill; special nephew, Lansden Hill; best friend, Nellie Myers, and other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Mary Lou’s family would like to thank all the caregivers for the wonderful loving care they have provided over the past several months.

Celebration of life of will occur on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of LaFollette with Dennis King officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service in the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church of LaFollette. Family and friends will meet at 10:30a.m. Friday, May 27, 2022, at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to the Woodlawn Cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church of LaFollette, 255 W. Central Avenue, LaFollette, TN  37766 or a charity of your choice.

  2. I enjoyed talking with Mr and Mrs Reynolds when they lunched at B&B. Valuable stories I will always remember. Everytime, I see a Ladies Slipper think of Mrs Reynolds.
