JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Four Campbell County High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members competed at the State Leadership conference in Chattanooga, held April 4 -6. Two students won 2nd place, advancing to nationals in Chicago, which will take place this summer.

Campbell County had four students compete in three events at the conference. 

Students who competed include Julianne Kirby, Lily Middleton, Seven Veach and Reece Hooks. 

All members placed in the top eight in their respective competitive events. 

Senior Reece Hooks and Junior Seven Veach won second place in the Social Media Strategies competition. They will have the opportunity to advance to FBLA National Leadership Conference in Chicago, Illinois, on June 29-July 2. 

Sophomore Lily Middleton was fifth in Introduction to Social Media Strategies, while Freshman Julianne Kirby finished sixth in her competition for Introduction to Business Presentations. 

Campbell County High School FBLA Sponsor Amy Stephens said she was super proud of the students.

“I would just like to congratulate them for all their hard work and share the wonderful things happening in FBLA with the community,” Stephens said. 

The students said they had a great time at the competition and are ready to bring home the win this summer at nationals. 

Senior Reece Hooks said going to the FBLA competition and conference in Chattanooga was one of the most unforgettable experiences in her life thus far. 

“Not only was everything I learned about the business industry extremely helpful, but I met so many new people who I know I will never forget. I’m so excited we got the opportunity to compete and even win the competition! I’m super thrilled to take the next step in the competition at nationals in Chicago. I can’t wait to learn, compete, and meet even more people from around the nation who are all there for the same reason I am. Hopefully we can bring a national win back to Campbell County!” Hooks said.

Junior Seven Veach said he was ready for this summer’s competition as well and wanted to thank his sponsor.

“First and foremost I want to thank Mrs. Stephens for showing me the opportunity to experience FBLA and everything it holds for me and I’m ready to go back home and win it all,” Seven Veach said. 

Freshman Julianne Kirby said that the “FBLA conference is definitely something everyone should experience.”

“It not only builds leadership skills and gives many opportunities to showcase that but let’s you meet new people and create friendships. It was probably the most fun I’ve had and the best atmosphere,” Kirby said.

Sophomore Lily Middleton said she enjoyed all of the experiences and the places she can go with FBLA. “As I want to travel after high school going to Chattanooga has showed me the people and opportunity I can meet throughout my life, I’m thrilled to go to Chicago and to bring a win back to Campbell County,” Middleton said.
