JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A standing room only crowd filled the lower courtroom on Friday morning for the annual sale of property for delinquent taxes by auction conducted by Clerk and Master Dennis Potter.

“It was a tremendous effort by my staff, a good team effort, that resulted in all of the parcels, 65 at last count, being sold,” said Potter. Selling all parcels means Campbell County did not have to buy back any property. That includes all property sold for La Follette, Jellico and the county.

Lots of interested parties filled the Chancery Courtroom on May 20.

Final sale totals hover at the half-million dollar mark with $496,000 worth of property being sold. “Some properties were even over bid,” said Potter.

“I have a great staff, and they work so hard,” exclaimed Potter. Potter, who is in his eighth year as Clerk & Master, calls the sale a huge success.

Property owners still have a year to redeem their property. “We don’t ever want to see anyone lose their property,” Potter expressed. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/23/2022-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF DENNIS POTTER AND WLAF’S MATTHEW MOORE)
