With open arms our Lord and Savior welcomed Gary D. Reed of Jacksboro home on May 16, 2022 at age 81. Gary was born August 19, 1940.  He was a long-time member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he was saved over 40 years ago. He was admired by all for his patience, carpentry skills, intelligence and most of all he never had anything bad to say about anyone. He absolutely loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed sharing building knowledge, nature hikes, and storytelling with them.

Gary was born in Lafollette, TN in a home behind the Lafollette Campbell County Clerk’s office. He later grew up in Lake City (Rocky Top) and eventually settled in Jacksboro where he finished raising his family. From building houses, hanging/finishing Sheetrock, running a junk yard to operating a grocery store, Gary was always working. He taught all of us more than we can imagine: work for what you want, don’t ask anyone for anything, don’t get above your raising and most of all give all the glory to God.

Gary is superseded in death by his parents Delmar Clyde and Mabel Irene (Hatmaker) Reed, sisters Linda Reed and Brenda Sue (Sue Do) and granddaughter Windy Brock. Gary is survived by his daughters: N. Marie Ayers (Codey), Margaret Daugherty (Tim) and Helen Tammaro (Louie). Grandchildren: Jonathan Ayers (fiancé Katelyn), Cindy Kennedy (DK), Andrew Graves (Yasmine), Christopher Daugherty and Reed Daugherty. Great grandchildren: Amy, Jonah and Aayan. Sisters, Geraldine Snow and Wilma Thompson; Beloved friends: John (Goober) and wife Brenda Hunley, Charlie Johnson, Marshall Daugherty, Doyle Watkins, Michael Daugherty, Rick Graves and many many more. Further a host of friends and family that were always there to visit and help.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. John (Goober) Hunley and Rev. J.T. Asbury officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to Macedonia Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Macedonia Cemetery Fund, c/o Travis Richardson 3388 Pinecrest Road, Jacksboro, TN 37757.
