Richard Daniel (Dickie) Byrd, age 73, went home to the Lord Jesus on Monday, May 9, 2022. He was born and raised in Caryville TN. Richard was a veteran of the Vietnam Era serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. Upon retirement from Law Engineering (MacTec), he devoted his life to his family and was an avid gardener and numismatist. Preceded in death by his Father: Leo Byrd, Sr., Mother: Juanell Henry Byrd and siblings: Leo Byrd Jr. and Betty Francis Byrd.

Wife of 51 years Sherry Lynn Scott Byrd

Sons: Daniel Scott Byrd and wife Amber; Nicholas Sherdian Byrd and wife Candice; Mark Andrew Byrd and wife Nikki

Grandchildren: Clementine Rose Troxell Byrd, August Winston Byrd, and Hunter Leo Byrd

Sisters: Susan Harrison and husband Sam; Sharon Jones and husband Junior; Gloria Jean Wallace

Brothers-in-Law: Charles Scott and Michael Leach

Family will receive friends 5-7 PM Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Cross-Smith Funeral Home, friends may come by after 9 AM Thursday morning. Funeral service will be 7 PM Thursday in Cross-Smith Chapel with Rev. David Seiber officiating. Family and friends will meet 10 AM Friday at Cross-Smith Funeral Home and proceed to Allred Cemetery for 11 AM Interment.
