HABERSHAM, TN (WLAF) – Teachers make a difference in their students lives each and every day. For many students, having a teacher, counselor or principal who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that educator who has inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hard working educators with a weekly feature. This week’s featured educator is Glenda Ayers. She currently teaches 6th, 7th and 8th grade Science at Wynn School.

Ayers is from the Stinking Creek area and has “basically lived there her whole life.”

Wynn School’s Glenda Ayers is Eagle Tire Pros “Teacher of the Week.”

She said she is a product of Wynn School, having attended there “primer through 12th grade.”

Ayers is in her 25th year as an educator. She said she had many excellent teachers in her years at Wynn as a student and that each played a role in inspiring her career as a teacher.

“One who stands out to me was, Jenette Wilson, my 6th grade teacher, and later my high school English teacher. She made learning fun. She would take us on walks exploring the area around the school. She would read to us. One of my favorite memories of her is her laughter,  as she read a funny part of Anne of Green Gables,” Ayers said.

One of her favorite parts of teaching is seeing former students out in the community and they come up to her and tell her they miss Wynn and its teachers.

“This makes me feel like I, as well as my fellow teachers, have made a difference,” Ayers said.

Every Thursday, WLAF’s Charlotte Underwood features the WLAF – Eagle Tire Pros “Teacher of the Week.” That educator also receives a free oil change from Eagle Tire Pros.
