LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – For more than an hour on Thursday afternoon, traffic was funneled into one lane on the four lane as the result of a car wreck. The mishap backed up La Follette bound travelers past Jacksboro Middle School. The driver of the four door sedan told WLAF News that her car was forced off the road and into a deep ditch as it attempted to merge from Towe String Road onto the four lane at the Walgreens stop light.

It took some maneuvering to free the passenger who was on the ditch side of the wreck. The ditch is between the four lane and the section of Old Jacksboro Highway that runs behind Fire Station 2.

The driver and passenger were not injured. However, it took first responders to free the driver. The passenger was on the side of the car that was in the ditch, and it took longer to bring her out the driver side door.

First responders and passersby were quick to offer help.

The wreck occurred just after 4:30pm. At the height of the traffic jam, vehicles were backed up for about three miles.

La Follette Fire and Police responded. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/29/2022-6AM)
