JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Due to the Withdrawal of Petition of Alene Baird, the incumbent Campbell County Court Clerk, additional candidates may qualify for office according to Tenn. Code Ann. § 2-5-101(h) also known as the “Anti-Skullduggery Act of 1991.”

Anyone who wishes to run for the Campbell County Court Clerk’s office now has a qualifying deadline no later than 12:00 p.m. (Noon), Thursday, April 21, 2022. The withdrawal deadline has now been extended to 12:00 p.m. (Noon), Monday, April 25, 2022.

To pick up a petition, please come to Campbell County Election Commission Office. The office is located adjacent to the Courthouse in Jacksboro. Office hours are 8:00 am-4:30 pm, Monday thru Friday. The telephone number is 423-562-9777.

  1. Why does the deadline need extended? There are others already going to be on the ballet. Is the county wanting the position to go to someone else or something. Just because someone withdrew their name doesn’t mean the deadline should be extended
