JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A man in his 30s or 40s was apprehended today near Big O’s Git-n-Go on the east side of La Follette and was later arrested. He is facing multiple charges surrounding a pursuit where he allegedly fired several shots at officers. Related story.

“Our investigators, along with other agencies, apprehended the man we believe is responsible for the events that unfolded on Tuesday afternoon and evening where officers were fired upon in a pursuit that crossed Campbell and Claiborne County lines,” said Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins. The sheriff adds that this provides relief to those affected by this man’s actions as well as to the law enforcement community. Related story.

Efforts were non-stop as investigators followed leads and dug in to learn exactly who this person was and about where he may be. Friday afternoon, just after 2pm, he was taken into custody near Big O’s while he sat in a car. The woman who was with him at the time of the apprehension had just gone in to buy a drink at Big O’s when officers made their move.

The sheriff says there are still some unknowns about this person. His age and address are yet to be learned. “I think he, at least, has friends here in Campbell County, so there is a connection to here,” said Goins.
