LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – At this hour (7PM), on and near the Edwards Farm is where Campbell and Claiborne County Sheriff’s Deputies, Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers and a THP Trooper in a helicopter are on foot and in the air pursuing a suspect. A man, driving a white snub nosed Chevy flatbed truck, was initially involved in a road pursuit involving law enforcement cruisers on Old Middlesboro Highway beginning in Campbell County going into Claiborne County and then back to Campbell County and back to Claiborne County.

The area of concentration at the moment appears to be around Halls Ridge which is in Speedwell, near the Edwards Farm. It’s been reported that about 10 Claiborne County units are in the area joining multiple Campbell County units.

The drama filled pursuit, beginning not long after 4:30pm, included gun shots being fired by the suspect as well as the suspect ramming at least two CCSO cruisers. One cruiser was disabled with the truck being damaged as well.

The suspect drove off Old Middlesboro Highway into the cow pasture of the Edwards Farm. That’s where the off road pursuit and then foot pursuit began after the truck was wrecked on the farm according to reports. It was said that deputies lost sight of the suspect once he fled the truck, and that the truck was found a while later.

Campbell County Sheriff’s officials say it all began when a deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the flatbed, because the truck had been reported stolen

At this time the suspect’s identity remains unknown.

WLAF will continue to follow this developing story. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/29/2022-6PM-UPDATED 03/30/2022-7:30PM)
